Have you ever asked yourself why political leaders tell everyone to go volunteer for the Peace Corp, the military or some government agency to work in public service for the common good? It seems that all politicians tell us to do this in yet when we check their record many times they haven't done it themselves. Now, some have and that is truly admirable and it is someone who leads by example and perhaps the type of politician you might give a second glance to.
However, a cynic might say the only reason why political leaders tell everyone to volunteer is to prevent competition. If everyone is in a foreign country working for the Peace Corp or in the military they have no time to run for public office and that means they can serve their country working under the politician and this way the politician has more to control.
It is a Common theme that politicians have telling everyone they should join forces and volunteer, and perhaps, it is a sign of a strong leader to rally the troops and get everyone on the same page to fight in a common cause for good and against evil. However, have you ever considered this question; Why should anyone have to tell you to volunteer, you should be doing that anyway. Indeed, you and the politician should be doing that.
We need our population to unite, spread freedom, democracy and liberty the world over and defend against evil tyrants who take freedom away from others. Still, this a philosophical question and one that needs to be looked at because when people give the best years of their lives to their country and this means they have to sacrifice their income and perhaps their children's future college funds to do it.
Sometimes families give selfishly for generations and are taken for granted in this regard, while many political families do not lead by example. Perhaps, we should be voting for those most like us, that give freely to our nation; that would never ask us to do anything that they would not do themselves? Think on this.
